Getting here by car
Drive on the Tauernautobahn A10 from Salzburg or Villach until the Bischofshofen exit. Here, follow the dual carriageway (311, Pinzgauer Bundestrasse) to St. Johann im Pongau.
Once in St. Johann, leave the dual carriageway at the Alpendorfstrasse junction, and head for Grossarl. At the roundabout in Grossarl take the first exit, Unterberg Mitte.
Follow the road for about 700 metres and then at Sport Lackner, take a right to get to the Hotel Tauernhof.
An important tip: Vignette discs are compulsory on motorways in Austria. Toll stickers can be purchased either for ten days, two months or a year, at all petrol stations and newsagents.
Getting here by train
Travelling in an environmentally friendly way and protecting the climate - in Austria, the train is the ideal choice.
You can travel to St. Johann im Pongau train station and from there you have various options for your onward journey: either comfortably by taxi or by bus no. 540 in the direction of Hüttschlag-Stockham. In Grossarl, get off at the ‘Grossarl Sportzentrum’ bus stop - this is just a few steps away from the Tauernhof. Getting here by plane
Salzburg (SZG) airport is the one closest to the Tauernhof. The latest arrivals, departures and flight timetables can be found direct on the airport website.
Onward travel by shuttle taxi
Practical for families and small groups: Many shuttle taxis offer great value rates for comfortable onward travel right to the Tauernhof doorstep. The best thing to do is get information beforehand here.
Onward train travel
If you want to travel on to the Hotel Tauernhof in Grossarl by train, O-Bus Line 2 takes you from the airport to the main train station in Salzburg. Continue as outlined in the arrival by train section.
Onward travel by hire car
There are various car hire points available at the airport: Europcar, Avis, Blue Box, Budget, Denzeldrive, Hertz and Sixt. With a hire car you get to stay mobile during your holiday. Then your final section to the Tauernhof is as outlined in the getting here by car section.
