Life is often all about variety. And this is especially so during a holiday, where relaxation ought to meet liveliness, nature come face to face with urban amenities and local charm come with an international quality. Good news: Grossarl has exactly that!

We are quite honest: In times past, Grossarltal was indeed a little bit sedate. Only a few strayed from St. Johann im Pongau into this lateral valley in Land Salzburg. These days it is exactly this that is its great advantage. Yet, even if there is not much more of this sedateness, the clocks do tick a little bit more slowly here than elsewhere. And although the 21st century, with all its technical advantages, found its way here a long time ago, a big helping of traditional aspects are still part and parcel of daily life here. In your hotel in Grossarl practically on the doorstep. On the many Alpine pastures that are strewn across all of Grossarltal, inviting you to explore them. In summer, right behind the hotel, there are the loveliest Alpine hiking paths, and during a ski holiday in the winter, you can head straight from your room to the piste – after all, the ski lift and the ski piste are right next to the hotel. And for action away from the mountains there are ambience-filled bars, trendy discos and cosy pubs in the centre of Grossarl for you to head to. Après-ski in the winter is of course included too.

How to find us

The Tauernhof is in a perfect location – well, that’s what we think at least. Not right in the thick of things and yet close to everything – whether it is right on the pistes in the winter in Grossarl, or in the middle of the hiking area in the summer. But see for yourself.
