In our experience, the petting zoo quickly becomes a favourite spot, and it’s worth building a visit into the morning routine, say after breakfast. #6 Off to the farm with Markus
The Tauernhof has its own working farm, run by Markus Hettegger. The day starts there at first light, often before sunrise, and that’s precisely what makes a visit so special. Guests can come and have a look behind the scenes, or even muck in. It’s a wonderful way to get a feel for rural life in Grossarl, with sheep, goats, horses and ponies, and a surprisingly relaxing one at that. After all, being around animals builds children’s confidence, reduces stress and develops empathy and awareness of others.
A particular highlight in summer: visiting the flock of 60 sheep up on their summer pastures.

Go-kart fun, trampoline tricks, first goals at street hockey: There’s no shortage of memorable experiences for older kids and teens. Right in the village, there are also local operators running adventure outings, cycling tours and more, suitable for the whole family. In winter, enjoy a perfect day on the slopes followed by Kaiserschmarrn, and everyone goes home happy.
